Rotary Three Peaks Challenge, 28th June 2008

Team Name:
Don't Peak Too Soon!
Team Members: Nova Fisher (Exeter Southernhay Rotary), Brian McCann (Hemel Hempstead Rotary), Charles Moir, Nadine Gibbon, Sarah Crouch, Damian Welch, Mahmood Lone, Kara Fisher

It's hard enough climbing one mountain, but a whole lot tougher climbing three in 24 hours!

Up for the challenge were 15 teams of Rotarians and their friends who wanted to raise money for Sightsavers. The peaks were all over 3,000 ft high and situated in Scotland, England and Wales, so the challenge also involved driving to the foot of each mountain within the time limit.

Despite torrential rain, cloud and some sunny intervals our team, Don't Peak Too Soon!  managed the challenge in 23 hours and 20 minutes. (one of only 11 teams to achieve the goal of 24 hours)

Our second challenge was to raise £5,000 - our target. Currently we have raised over £6,400 including the gift aid!

The total money raised from all teams - over £75,000 - will go towards the Rotary African Vision project, which trains, equips and deploys health care workers through the Sightsaver projects in Uganda and Malawi.

Rotarians have a 30 years history of raising money for Sightsavers.
