Fresh Clean Water for N'Giresi Village, Tanzania

N'Giresi village has approximately 3000 people, including children. It is situated on Mount Meru, near Arusha, Tanzania. The village residents are of the WaArusha tribe. They are historically Masai people who have become more urbanized and given up their nomadic way of life. However, the language, customs and other traditions of their life remain as that of their Masai forefathers. 90% of the homes are occupied as subsistence farmers with an income of less than a dollar a day.   

The Villagers currently get their water from surface water ditches whose source is the Emboocha river  - these are contaminated from wildlife and domestic animals in addition to human waste. No storage facilities exist to level out the highs and lows of the water flow and to provide sufficient water pressure for any water system.

The Villagers  need piping and storage facilities with appropriately placed standpipes to supply water from the Emboocha River.
